The Eagle Feather Youth Program

Relational Presence with the Herd (Ages 7–12)

I have spent many years holding space for women navigating the exhaustion of burnout and finding their way back to a regulated nervous system. Through this, I recognized a similar need for neurodivergent youth—those who are also navigating a world that often feels too loud or moves too fast.

I created the Eagle Feather Program as a dedicated sanctuary for children to find their own steady ground. It is born from a simple belief: that every nervous system deserves a clearing where the pressure to perform or "mask" can fall away. This program exists as its own space for any young soul who needs to step away from the demands of the modern world and into the quiet, honest rhythm of the herd.

Healing with Horses and Nature

I believe there is a specific kind of healing that happens when we step away from the noise of the world and onto the quiet floor of the forest. Tucked between the towering peaks and the steady flow of the river, the ranch is a sanctuary where the nervous system can finally catch its breath.

Grounding in the Herd

The horses here are my partners, and they live with full sovereignty. They are never forced to stay or perform; they are free to roam and make their own choices. In our sessions, your child will learn to listen to the silent language of the horse—the soft flick of an ear or a deep exhale.

While much of our time is spent on the ground to allow for a peer-to-peer relationship, there are moments when we may move into bareback riding. Without the barrier of a saddle, your child can feel the horse’s warmth and the shift of their muscles directly. This natural way of being together offers a deep, rhythmic connection that grounds the body and the spirit alike. Because I value the horse's voice as much as the child's, this movement only happens when there is a clear, mutual "yes" from both.

The Rhythms of the Ranch

Our time together follows the natural flow of the day and the needs of the child. I offer the same earth-based support the land provides: the steady heartbeat of a horse, the grounding presence of the forest, and the freedom to be exactly who they are.

  • Grooming & Connection: We might spend an hour in the quiet rhythm of brushing a horse, which becomes a grounding sensory meditation.

  • Leading & Partnership: We practice guiding a horse through the trees, finding a shared language of movement and trust that builds quiet, inner confidence.

  • Somatic Breath & Emotional Intelligence:We use the horse’s presence to practice settling our own energy. This is where true emotional intelligence begins—in the honest feedback of a 1,000-pound animal who mirrors our internal world.

  • Creative Expression: Some days, we might settle into a quiet corner of the paddock for creative art, using the inspiration of the forest to express what words cannot.

A Space for Independence

I bring 20 years of experience in human integrative wellness and bodywork to this sanctuary. As a Certified FEEL® Facilitator (Facilitated Equine Experiential Learning), I hold a steady, intentional container where the horse is respected as a sentient partner and a gifted teacher.

In our individual, drop-off sessions, I use this heart-centered framework to support your child as they explore their own independence. Away from the pressure of being watched or evaluated, they are given the freedom to find their own rhythm alongside the horses and the land.

Guided by the FEEL® approach, we don’t look for forced breakthroughs; instead, we listen for the quiet moments where the nervous system feels safe enough to truly rest.

Preparing for the Ranch

The Meet & Greet
I offer a free of charge meet and greet for all new families. This is a quiet time for us to walk the land together and ensure that the energy of the ranch and the herd aligns with your child’s needs before we begin.

Investment
Individual sessions are $125 + GST per hour.

Funding & Registration
I am pleased to accept Autism Funding Unit (AFU) for our sessions. Please note that your child must be fully registered and the necessary paperwork completed before our first session together begins.

AutismBC and other types of funding accepted

A Note on the 2026 Season
The Ministry has announced transitions for July 2026, where many families will shift to a new Disability Benefit. However, the AFU will continue to accept invoices through March 2027. I am here to help you navigate this paperwork so your child’s time with the horses remains a steady, uninterrupted sanctuary.

The Elements & What to Wear
We work outside on the land in all types of weather. Please ensure your child arrives in:

  • Sturdy, closed-toe boots (rain or hiking boots).

  • Weather-appropriate layers that can stand up to the forest and the mud.

  • Clothes that are comfortable for movement and "ranch life."

Cancellations
Sessions may be rescheduled or canceled with at least 48 hours’ notice. Cancellations within 48 hours are non-refundable, as that time has been reserved specifically for your child.

Scope of practice
This work is non-clinical and not a substitute for psychotherapy or medical care.

I invite your child to sit with the horses and find their own steady ground.
